Biography

 

Born in St. Louis, Mo,  Monica Parks is the independent middle child of strict, yet caring parents.  Her  professional career began in New York City acting off-Broadway, in regional theatre, internationally and as a member of the Circle Repertory Company Lab. She later returned to St. Louis as an actor working for several years with the St. Louis Black Rep, the Shakespeare Festival of St. Louis, the St. Louis Rep, among other venues. Now based in Los Angeles, CA, she continues to work in television, film, commercial, print, voiceover and theatre.

 

Awarded the St. Louis Critic's Judy Award for Best Supporting Actor in a play, for "The Violet Hour;" and shared best ensemble awards for "Women's Minyan" (Kevin Kline Award); and "Bingo!", "Black Medea", and "Striver's Row" (Consecutive Audelco Awards, 3 years running).

Holds a MFA in Classical Acting from Shakespeare Theatre Company's ACA in collaboration with The George Washington University.
